Organization settings
Company details, people, roles, structure, and access settings that apply to everyone in the organization.
These screens change things for everyone in your organization. Each one needs the permission named under its heading. Owners hold all of them by default and can give them to other roles.
Company
Section titled “Company”Settings > Organization > Company. Needs organization.update. Your organization’s name and company details.
People
Section titled “People”Settings > Organization > People. Needs organization.manage-members. See who is in the organization, invite people, and change or remove their role. See Invite your team.
Roles and permissions
Section titled “Roles and permissions”Settings > Organization > Roles and permissions. Needs organization.roles.manage.
Choose what each role can do in this organization. Editing a default role makes a copy for your organization. New permissions that ProjectBrain adds later do not reach a copy you have changed, so check your custom roles after a release. A permission granted here means nothing in another organization.
Subsidiaries, departments and teams
Section titled “Subsidiaries, departments and teams”Each screen needs its own permission:
| Screen | Path | Permission |
|---|---|---|
| Subsidiaries | Settings > Organization > Subsidiaries | subsidiary.manage |
| Departments | Settings > Organization > Departments | department.manage |
| Teams | Settings > Organization > Teams | team.manage |
| Team Members | Settings > Organization > Team Members | team.manage-members |
The structure goes four levels deep at most: organization, subsidiary, department, team. People in one subsidiary do not see another subsidiary’s departments unless that department is shared with them. Each department row has a Standups button when standups are turned on.
Audit Log
Section titled “Audit Log”Settings > Organization > Audit Log. Needs org-hierarchy.audit. Shows who created, renamed, moved, shared, archived or restored a subsidiary, department or team, and when.
External access
Section titled “External access”Settings > Organization > External access. Needs external-access.audit. Lists the clients and other outside people who can see your work. See Clients and external sharing.
Walled projects
Section titled “Walled projects”Settings > Organization > Walled projects. Needs project.manage-walls, and appears only when project walls are in use. Lists the ethical walls in your organization: projects that only their listed members can see.
Client industries
Section titled “Client industries”Settings > Organization > Client industries. Needs client.edit. Rename, merge or delete the industries you can pick on a client. Merging moves every client to the industry you keep.
Skills
Section titled “Skills”Settings > Skills. Keep the list of skills you can assign to people, with other names a skill goes by. Import defaults adds a starter list. Skills feed resource management and timeline templates.
Work categories and capacity
Section titled “Work categories and capacity”Settings > Work Categories and Settings > Capacity. Need resources.manage, and appear only when resource management is turned on for your organization.
- Work Categories: the kinds of work people book time against.
- Capacity: the organization’s default working hours, each person’s hours, and time off.
See Resource management.
Security settings
Section titled “Security settings”Single sign-on and directory sync are covered in Security and admin.
