Milestones
A milestone is a named goal tasks can belong to. A milestone bar on a timeline is a marker on the chart. ProjectBrain keeps the two linked.
WhoAnyone who can edit a task can pick its milestone.Roles
“Milestone” means two things in ProjectBrain:
- A milestone is a named goal, such as “Beta launch”, that tasks can be assigned to.
- A milestone bar is an entry on a project’s timeline with the entry type milestone. It marks a date on the chart.
When you add a milestone bar to a timeline, ProjectBrain creates a matching milestone and links them. So the chart and the task picker show one list, not two.
Put a task in a milestone
Section titled “Put a task in a milestone”- Open the task.
- Choose Milestone.
- Pick a milestone, or type a new name and choose Create milestone.
To see everything in a milestone, open it from a task and choose See every task in this milestone.
Add a milestone to the timeline
Section titled “Add a milestone to the timeline”- Open the project’s Timeline tab and choose Add Entry.
- Set Entry Type to milestone and give it a date.
- Choose Add Timeline Entry.
A matching milestone now appears in the task picker. To group other timeline entries under it, use Group under a milestone when you add or edit them.
Things that surprise people
Section titled “Things that surprise people”- Changing a milestone bar to another entry type unlinks it. The milestone itself stays, and so do the tasks in it.
- Deleting a milestone bar does not delete the milestone.
- A group row on the timeline cannot be a milestone.
- AI tools connected to ProjectBrain can create and update milestones. They cannot delete them.
